Makhuduthamaga Sports Confederation set sights on 2025
JANE FURSE – Members of the Makhuduthamaga Sports Confederation Executive Committee, duly constituted and assembled at the Makhuduthamaga IEC Office recently, took a series of decisions and resolutions in the interest of transforming sport development and elite participation in the municipal area and beyond.
The resolutions aim to pave the way for producing high-caliber professional athletes within the local municipality who can compete at provincial, national and international levels.
According to the Makhuduthamaga Sports Confederation Spokesperson, Mandla Matsomane, the Executive Committee meeting, which was held at the IEC Boardroom in Jane Furse, resolved on a range of key issues, seeking at professionalizing the administration of sport in Makhuduthamaga.
Among the resolutions was the allocation of portfolios to Executive Committee Members (EXCO), ensuring clear areas of responsibility and accountability.
During the meeting, Ramosoane Ramaila was elected Chairperson of the confederation, Racheal Senong elected First Vice Chairperson, Lucas Mokgomogane elected Second Vice Chairperson, Puleng Mmotla became Secretary of the confederation, Lefa Nkadimeng elected Deputy Secretary and Patracia Mmadi was elected as the confederation’s Treasurer.
Melca Nkadimeng was elected as Head of Women in Sport portfolio, Vico Maripane was elected to lead the Safeguard portfolio, Mandla Matsomane elected to lead the Marketing and Communication of the confederation, Tshepo Fenyane to lead the Leagues and Campaigns and Jomo Rantho will be leading the Schools and Tertiary Sport.
The confederation elected Mapitso Magolego to lead Disability Sport, Mpho Mogajane to head Sport Academy of the confederation, Portia Mosehlane as Hubs and Skills Mass Participation and Recreation head and the Indigenous Games to be led by Evah Malel .
Other key resolutions taken at the meeting included that federations operating in Makhuduthamaga must formalize their membership by 31 January 2025 to be recognized.
Matsomane said the confederation is also planning for a capacity-building induction workshop which will be held no later than 28 February 2025, to equip Executive Committee Members with the skills required for their mandate.
“The registration process for the Makhuduthamaga Sports Confederation as a Non-Profit Organization (NPO), has also commenced, ensuring compliance with governance standards,” he said.
He added that a comprehensive year plan will be circulated, aligning the confederation’s activities with its strategic objectives.
Matsomane indicated that a detailed skills development and executive capacity-building programme will also be presented at the next confederation meeting to empower leadership.

In fostering strategic planning, professional organized sport structures, and capacity development, the Confederation aims to position Makhuduthamaga as a hub of sporting excellence. We wish the newly appointed portfolio heads success as they take on their responsibilities and contribute to the growth and transformation of sport in our region,” concluded Matsomane.
