Mayor welcomes New Year’s and Christmas days’ babies

MAKHUDUTHAMAGA – Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality Mayor, Minah Bahula applauded health care workers for their continued bravery and compassion in providing health care services to their respective communities.

Mayor Bahula visited St Ritas Hospital in Glen Cowie and the Jane Furse Hospital on New Year’s Day to welcome the 2022 born babies. A total of 10 babies were delivered at the two hospitals on New Year’s Day.

Bahula said: “We know you work under extreme pressure and difficulties sometimes. You are confronted with the COVID-19 pandemic but you continue to demonstrate commitment and provide this essential service to our people.

The municipality applauds your will to work and deliver on the mandate of the department of health. From nurses, doctors, maintenance and housekeeping workers, we salute your love and compassion.”

On Christmas Day, Mayor Bahula visited the two hospitals to welcome 12 new born babies. Bahula was accompanied by Council Speaker, Judy Mphelane, Chief whip Thamaga and several other councilors. Jane Furse Hospital delivered seven babies and St Ritas Hospital delivered five babies on Christmas Day.

This is a traditional, annual occasion through which Mayor Bahula presents gifts to the newly born as well as their mothers. Bahula thanked the hospitals management and their team collectively for working tirelessly even during the festive season.

“We thank you for ensuring the safety of both these mothers and their babies. Our municipality is presenting them with these small gifts as a token of love and appreciation. We hope that they will go a long way in lifting their spirits,” said Bahula.

According to Limpopo Department of Health Sekhukhune District welcomed 17 new born boys and 33 girls on Christmas Day.
