The DOP removes foreign nationals who occupied RDP houses illegally in Lebowakgomo
A new political party, the Defender of the People (DOP) located within Lepelle Nkumpi Local Municipality (LNM) has embarked on a campaign to forcefully remove foreign nationals who occupied RDP houses illegally in the municipality.
According to the party founder his party is recognised and approved by the Chief of the Electoral Officer.
“In terms of section 15 of the Electoral Commission Act, 1996 (Act 51 0f 1996),” so said party President Ruphos Mphahlele who said his organisation would participate on upcoming local government election to be hold on October 27th.
Mphahlele has described himself as a fearless defender of the people. He was born in Tooseng village and relocated to Lebowakgomo Zone R.
“The party defends abused women and children, vulnerable people and defenceless poor masses,” he said.
After the DOP removed foreign nationals in the RDP structures it put ordinary citizens on them to stay.
And the party leader has lamented and blamed members of the African National Congress (ANC) in his region regarding the occupation of RDP houses by foreign nationals.
“Most of the people who occupied this building are Zimbabweans and the ANC has allowed them,” said Mphahlele.
He said his party member found stolen plasma TVs and other electrical appliances while evacuating the foreign nationals.
“Since inception of the program we are targeted by the police,” he claimed.
He said recently he was arrested for crime he didn’t commit but says he was not surprised since he was aware that he is being targeted.
“On April 6th, I was arrested by the police in front of my supporters for a crime I did not commit. And the worst part was that, the incident happened while I was in Pretoria,” he said.
He was accused of intimidation but released on the same day after intervention of his legal representatives.
“Despite showing them the receipts of places I was at during the crime incident, the police went on to arrest me because their case was conspired and persuaded by some individuals,” he said.
He said he felt undermined, betrayed, harassed and intimidated after he was falsely accused and arrested.
” People owe Indians and Zimbabweans money and when those people attack them during the night, they speedily accuse our members,” he claimed.
Previously his party organised a march to defend ordinary citizens that the party placed in the RDP houses after some claimed to have been threatened.
“Some people who threatened to attack poor people staying in the RDP houses Zone F were no were to be found,” Mphahlele made this remark after revisiting the area with masses.
He said if anyone provokes them, they will visit them during the day.
“We will defend those staying in the RDP houses until our last breath,” said Mphahlele.
He said the police could arrest him, but they can’t arrest his wisdom.
Mphahlele reiterated that the LNM must resolve the issue of RDP houses in the area.
“We are tired of thieves in our society any Zimbabwean without documents of being here in South Africa must go home,” he said.
Mphahlele warned the police to stop interfering on issues responsible for department of houses.
