ANC Sekhukhune regional conference a resounding success
MOGOROANE – The African National Congress (ANC) in Sekhukhune region held its 9th regional conference at Boeketlong Lodge in Mogoroane Village between last Thursday and Friday.
Comrades, Minah Bahula, David Tladi, Tala Mathope, Eddie Maila and Given Moimana were elected uncontested to the top 5.
Bahula was elected the Chairperson, Tladi, Deputy Chairperson, Mathope, Secretary, Maila Deputy Secretary and Moimana, Treasurer.
National Executive Committee (NEC) and Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) members converged at the lodge to witness the milestone.
The African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) in the region congratulated the party for convening a success regional conference which ran for two days from 24 April until 25 April.
In a statement released on 28 April, the league stated that it salutes the leadership and members of the ANC for participating in a peaceful congress that was characterised by unity and dedication towards the renewal building programme.
“We wish the entire Regional Executive Committee well in their term of office and look forward to working with the collective towards a defining local government election,” read the statement.
During closure of the conference, ANC Secretary General, Fikile Mbalula expressed his pleasure that the regional conference discharged its duty and delegates participated in commissions, the outcomes of which will accelerate organisational renewal and rebuilding.
The Secretary General added that the manner in which the delegates conducted themselves, over the progression of the conference, is exemplary.
There have been attempts to interdict the conference but all went well amid the unexpected development.
Delivering the political report, Bahula thanked the branches in the region for the support they have given to the REC and later RTT collective.
“In the same vein, we thank the RTT collective for the organisational commitment and the political bond that we forged during our term of office. It was not a smooth sailing, but we managed to build a sound working environment. It is a mammoth task to lead an organisation as old and big as the ANC. We managed to traverse difficult political moments together. As the outgoing leadership, we are optimistic that the revolutionary support given to us will also be given to the incoming leadership. Leaders come and go but the organisation remains,” stated Bahula.
