MEC Mashego leads Philadelphia Letsema Cleaning Campaign

DENNILTON

The MEC for Health in Limpopo, Dieketseng Mashego, has on Monday 27 January 2025, embarked on service delivery monitoring and Letsema Cleaning Campaign at Philadelphia Hospital in Dennilton, Elias Motsoaledi Local Municipality (EMLM).

The cleaning campaign was conducted as part of the department’s Operation Bophelo Pele outreach, aimed at strengthening primary healthcare services, particularly in rural areas.

During the programme, MEC Mashego was accompanied by EMLM Speaker Cllr Junior Thethe and EXCO member responsible for Community Services, Cllr Nkitseng Ramongana.

The entourage engaged in a walk-about around the hospital and visited an X-Ray room to see the equipment, which was semi-functional and was properly working. Mashego was happy to see the X-Ray equipment fully repaired and functional.

Following the walk about, the MEC participated in the Letsema Cleaning Campaign joined by Uitspaning Community Development volunteers, where they rendered services such as yard cleaning, grass cutting and tree felling around the hospital surroundings.

Mashego said the initiative was in line with Nelson Mandela’s legacy which reminds us that volunteering is not merely a temporary thing despite for communities facing adversity but a catalyst for long-term change.

“It’s about forging deep and lasting relationships with the communities we serve. We appreciate your effort and the spirit of volunteering in order to keep our healthcare facilities safe and clean,” she said.
