FTLM staff commended for unqualified audit opinion

The Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality mayor, Cllr Eddie Maila, met with municipal staff on December 12 to express appreciation after achieving an unqualified audit opinion for the 2024/25 financial year.
Maila acknowledged the collective efforts of employees across all departments, attributing the audit outcome to adherence to prescribed legislation, sound financial management practices and strengthened internal controls within the institution.
He encouraged the staff to sustain the current trajectory by continuing to uphold compliance, accountability and ethical conduct, stressing that consistency in applying correct governance practices remains central to the municipality’s objective of further improving audit outcomes.
Maila further indicated that the audit opinion reflects a well-led administration. He commended the acting municipal manager, Mavis Magooa, for providing strategic leadership and administrative stability, noting that effective leadership and teamwork were evident in the audit performance.
“The unqualified audit opinion affirms the importance of collective responsibility, disciplined management, and adherence to governance frameworks within the municipality,” said Maila.
He reiterated council’s commitment to supporting the administration in strengthening systems, enhancing oversight and maintaining sound governance practices in line with applicable legislative and regulatory requirements.
