New MCT leadership eager to improve local communities

The Marula Community Trust (MCT) elections took place on December 6.

The turnout was immense with hundreds of community members flocking to the polling stations in large numbers.

Locals in communities surrounding Marula said they were happy with the results. The new elected leadership is as follows:

 Esrom Phoku – Diphale, Kenneth Maake – Seuwe, Justinos Serage – Magabaneng, Tebogo Manyaka – Ga-Manyaka MW, Jimmy Manyaka – Ga-Manyaka DD, Donald Mashabela – Ga-Mashishi, Surgent Manyaka Ga-Kgoete.


Sekhukhune Times spoke to Surgent Manyaka, who was elected at Ga-Kgoete, he was on cloud nine and he indicated that their  main priority is to ensure locals gets basics services such as water .

“Our main focus is water, most of our villagers are lacking water. We will also ensure we erect access roads to our Magoshis, they are the respected leaders of our societies.”


He said education is a cornerstone for development and as such as they are planning to make available bursaries, internships and scholarships to improve education.


Manyaka said they are aiming at curbing corruption in the MCT to zero level.

“We will try our level best to create jobs for locals surrounding Marula.”


Meanwhile locals in communities surrounding Marula have pledged their support to the new MCT leadership.
“As youth we face many challenges like unemployment and lack of infrastructure in our areas, but with this new leadership, we are hopeful our areas will be developed, we will support this new leaders in order for them to make a difference.

“We were fed up with the leaders that placed their interest first, enriched themselves and ignored communities,” said a local community member.
