Suspect nabbed for possession of illegal firearm, ammunition and drugs remanded in custody
MALAENENG/DENNILTON – The 37 year-old Keletso Govern Mahlangu who was on Thursday, 28 June arrested for possession of unlawful firearm, ammunition and dealing in illicit drugs at his residence in Malaeneng Village, Dennilton outside Groblersdal appeared before the Moutse Magistrate’s Court.
The suspect’s case was postponed to 8 July for profiling purposes when he appeared before the court on Monday, 1 July.
Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, Limpopo Provincial Police spokesperson, said during the arrest of the suspect, law enforcement officers making up of teams from Limpopo and Mpumalanga province, discovered and confiscated one firearm, 17 live ammunition and 98 sachets of nyaope drugs.
Ledwaba informed that the suspect, who is also believed to be part of a gang of criminals involved in ATM blasts across Limpopo and Mpumalanga provinces, was arrested on the scene.
The Provincial Commissioner of South African Police Service (SAPS) in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has applauded the meticulous investigation and collaborative efforts.
General Hadebe added that this successful operation underscores the effectiveness of interagency cooperation in combating crime across regions.
