Makhuduthamaga gets unqualified audit opinion
JANE FURSE – Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality Council has congratulated the Municipal Manager, Mmadire Rampedi, and team collective for attaining yet another Unqualified Audit Opinion from the Auditor General of South Africa (AGSA) for the second year in succession.
According to the local municipality, the 2019/20 financial year audit outcome is with less matters of emphasis from the Auditor General as compared to the previous financial year 2018/19.
Mayor Minah Bahula has on behalf of the council, attributed the success to the team work spirit as presented by the administrative and political interface. Bahula thanked the team for their commitment towards clean government in the municipality
She said: “We have now requested the administration to swiftly develop an action plan which will address the root cause of issues raised by the Auditor General. We will also ensure that remedial action as indicated is implemented during the current financial year and that our internal financial controls improve.”
Bahula said that should also translate into acceleration of meaningful sustained services to their people and that they were they were marching on towards the total realization of a clean audit. She added that it was indeed possible.
The Mayor said despite the many pressing challenges which included the novel corona virus pandemic engulfing the country and the subsequent hard lockdown announced by the President of the Republic, the municipality was able to defeat all odds and ensure that its finances were fairly and appropriately presented to the auditor general.
The local municipality was also delighted that was an improved audit outcome as compared to the previous one.
