Local singer releases a new single

A local singer from Ga-selepe, Atok has released a new song called Emathandweni on the 23rd of February.
Antony Shai who is not only a singer but a songwriter and piano artist believes this is a new hit song. “I was inspired by DJ Cleo to start a career in music. He won the best song of the year twice in a row and that was when I began to love music, I go by the name Acilento on stage,” he said.
The 20-year-old singer released his first song in 2018 called Nyoko and it did not get the attention he had hoped for, fortunately, he did not give up. After releasing his latest single, he was shocked by the sudden support he received from people about it.
“I even went on an interview at Thobela FM concerning the track. I am beyond excited to see what the future holds for me in this journey,” said Acilento.
However, his mother Meldah Shai said she always knew her son was gifted and believes Antony will be famous one day. This proud mother explained how excited she is to support her son. “He will not embark on the journey alone but with family support. I would like to thank everyone who is supporting my son and kindly ask them to not give up on him,” said Meldah.
According to his friend, Dashney Malatji, Antony has always been a talented young man. “Before he could think of music, he was a soccer player, one of the best players on the team. But he grew up and chose what he feels comfortable in. All I can say is that Acilento is an impeccable singer, his songs deserve to be known out there” he said.
Antony is not only dedicated to music but will also be furthering his studies at Rose Bank College. “I will be studying Bachelor of Education in Intermediate Phase, it is important for me to study in case music does not work out,” he adds.
