The announcement was made by the local municipality recently, following the release of the audit outcomes for the 2021/2022 financial year.
An unqualified opinion is part of the financial statements presented fairly in all material respects, which includes all finances of the municipality as at 30 June 2022, with its financial performance and cash flow for the year ended in accordance with standards of Generally Recognised Accounting Practices (Standards of GRAP), and the requirements of Municipal Financial Management Act 56 of 2003 (MFMA) and the Division of Revenue Act 9 of 2021 (DoRA).
“This is the most positive audit outcome of the municipality for the first time in the history of the institution,” said EMLM Mayor Cllr David Tladi.
Tladi, has welcomed the audit outcomes and described them as “the most positive audit outcome and a historic occurrence.”
“On behalf of the council and the community of Elias Motsoaledi, we welcome the audit outcomes and it is up to us to work harder to improve financial viability and revenue generation for our municipality,” he said.
Tladi indicated that the results were achieved through good governance, proper financial management and good internal control environment.
“More importantly, it has been through good senior management leadership under the guidance of the Municipal Manager, Mr Meshack Kgwale, commitment and dedication of our staff members who have contributed to this success,” said Mayor Tladi.
Municipal Manager Kgwale vowed to remain committed to the principles of good governance and promised to continue to practice the principles and procedures required to maintain our fiscal discipline and stability.
