Emergency Medical Service station to benefit locals

MONSTERLUS – Limpopo MEC for Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure, Namane Masemola conducted a sod-turning and hand over of a site for the construction of a new Emergency Service satellite station to the tune of R27 million in Monsterlus outside Groblersdal within Elias Motsoaledi Local Municipality on Friday.

According to the department the construction of the Emergency Service satellite station will see people of Sekhukhune, in particular the Monsterlus area receive efficient emergency medical services as and when required.

The department said in detail, the construction included a new Emergency Medical Service (EMS) satellite station with new external works that comprised of a paved and covered parking for staff and emergency response vehicles and a patient transport vehicle together with a new steel palisade fence and new electrical network.

Joel Seabi, Limpopo Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure spokesperson, said part of the process was to handover the contractor of the project which would to ensure that government provided the Emergency Service station to community of Sekhukhune and the Monsterlus area.

Seabi indicated that there would be 35 job opportunities for locals in the project and local contractors also stood to benefit from the construction of the station.

“This as government aims to ensure that people of Sekhukhune and Monsterlus are in particular are serviced so far as their emergency medical service is concerned. During this construction period of about 12 months, about 35 people will benefit in so far as jobs are concerned but at the same time local SMMEs will benefit from the project,” concluded Seabi.
