Women empowered in confectionary

GROBLERSDAL – A 33 year-old Tafelkop born owner of the talked about confectionary project in Groblersdal Town, PM Bakery, recently gathered more than 20 women to offer them basic bakery master class skills that will help them put bread on the table.

PM Bakery owner, Pearl, provided the women with practical training on mixing, preparing, baking, packaging, pricing and selling tips of their final product.

The bakery enthusiast obtained her tertiary qualification in catering management and business management.

She launched her business in 2020 as a side hustle to supplement her monthly income as office manager for a funeral parlour. Pearl managed to have in her employ seven full time workers as for two bakers and five sales representatives.

When quizzed about how she started, she could not mince her words when thanking her mother how she taught her of baking at a tender age, the trade she currently cherishes abundantly.

In commemoration of the Women’s Month, the attendees of the training session were offered an opportunity to be treated like queens at the All-black Red-Carpet launch in Groblersdal Town.

The queen were received inspirational talk from the profound motivational speaker Maurine Mocheko who fearlessly cracked issues affecting women mostly such as Gender-Based Violence, the balance between work life and private life and being a good wife.

The motivational Mocheko further also touched based on how to raise children and also on how to start a business amid the COVID-19 pandemic within the stage of the fourth industrial revolution.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries of the empowerment session, Lerato Makua, a teacher at Phatantswane Primary School, praised Pearl as she said: “I follow you on social media and getting an opportunity to rub shoulders with you is something else. You are a beacon of hope for us to say black women can achieve success from humble beginnings to greater heights” said Makua.
