Pupils were sent home before school out hours at Poo Secondary School on Monday, this was due to the confirmed Coronavirus case within the school premises. According to the principal Mohlala Moses, one teacher tested positive for Coronavirus and two teachers were only ill.
“We are trying to follow the Covid-19 protocol to contain the spread of Covid-19. We urge everyone that should they feel unwell and notice Covid symptoms, seek medical attention immediately,” he said.
But most parents are anxious about the return of the learners to school.
“I have never been so scared, to think that our kids might be in great danger or maybe they are already infected with Covid-19. The Principal should contact the department of health so they can assist in testing all the learners before spreading the virus,” said a concerned parent, Sadi Sebetha.
The pupils were instructed to avail themselves to school on Wednesday as they will be a fumigating process on Tuesday.
Another perturbed parent feels it is only best to let the learners return to school after a week or two. Anna Leshaba said it is still early for their kids to go back. As a parent, she does not think it is safe to let a child go to a place they stand to catch the virus. She added by saying Covid-19 is dangerous and they should never gamble with the lives of their children.
Sekhukhune stands on a great 7895 positive confirmed Coronavirus cases according to the Limpopo Province Covid-19 statistics by district and none has been reported around Fetakgomo Tubatse. These can only be a surge of emotions to parents that the school might not have reported the cases to the department of health.
