BURGERSFORT
The Thobejane family in Madifahlane is desperately in need of help after their six-room house burnt down, leaving them with nothing but the clothes they were wearing on October 3.
The devastated family said they are unsure what caused the fire.
After learning about their situation, Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality’s mayor, Cllr Ngwakwana Mphethi, visited the family in Ward 10 on October 5.
She was accompanied by head of infrastructure development and technical services Cllr Halinda Mojalefa and several ward councillors.
The blaze caused extensive damage to the roof, furniture and other items in the house. The family’s identity documents and other important papers were also destroyed.
Mphethi called on neighbours and the broader community to offer them support during this difficult period. She confirmed the municipal disaster management team has been dispatched to assess the damage to determine appropriate intervention.
During the visit, the mayor provided groceries and school uniforms to enable children to attend lessons when schools reopen.
“We wish the Thobejane family some strength during this difficult time,” said Mphethi.
