GA-MALAKA/MOROKE/MAHLABENG
ANC Sekhukhune Regional Chairperson, Minah Bahula, has spent the weekend sharing heartwarming moments with the elderly in three villages across the Sekhukhune District, handing over blankets and regalia as a token of appreciation for their loyalty to the movement.
On Saturday 3 October 2026, Bahula convened the elderly of Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality (MLM) Ward 7 at Malaka Sports Ground in Ga-Malaka Village.
Addressing the gathering, Bahula said leadership must always be among the people.
“A leader must always be found amongst the people, in both bad and good times. It is only ANC leaders who have been with you and will always be with you. Hence, even now, the ANC councillor candidate is the people’s choice, proudly presented to you openly through our democratic processes,” she said.
She was joined by Deputy Regional Chairperson David Tladi, REC and Sub-REC members, SANCO, ANC Women’s League, ANC councillor candidates from the Phokwane Cluster and branch volunteers.
In a jovial mood, grandmothers and grandfathers received warm blankets, walking sticks, ANC T-shirts and doeks.
Later on the same warm Saturday, the regional leadership continued its outreach to Fetakgomo Tubatse Sub-Region, where Bahula met with the elderly of Moroke Village at Ntwampe Sports Ground and the elderly of Mahlabeng Village at Nyaku Primary School.
The programme was supported by RET Coordinator Given Moimana, Sub-REC members, ANC Leagues’ structures, alliance partners and ANC volunteers who came out in numbers.
The elderly in both villages received warm blankets and ANC regalia.
During the programme, Bahula told residents that her visit was not by accident, but in fulfilment of a promise she had made a few months ago to come and see them as a gesture of appreciation for their continued association with and loyalty to the ANC.
She also made a clarion call to all incoming ANC ward councillors not to take the support of the people for granted.
In Mahlabeng Village, the programme also saw the ANC welcoming new members who defected from opposition parties.
The party said the outreach formed part of the ANC Sekhukhune Region’s ongoing community engagement programme ahead of the upcoming local government elections.
