DIHLABANENG
In celebration of Women’s Month, the spotlight is shining on Pretty Hunadi Phetla, the founder of Pretty Poultry Farm (Pty) Ltd, based in Dihlabaneng Village outside Jane Furse.
Established in 2023, Pretty Poultry Farm focuses on broiler production, supplying fresh chickens to local consumers, street vendors, and resellers.
Pretty’s journey began with just one poultry house with a capacity of 400 birds. With the support of one young employee, she has demonstrated vision and dedication, growing her business while empowering youth through job creation.
After facing challenges and discouragement, Pretty secured funding through the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA).
The funding helped her purchase stock and essential equipment, significantly growing production at Pretty Poultry Farm. She is now able to save, reinvest in her business, and plan for future expansion.
Pretty remains committed to excellence, following best practices in poultry farming, ensuring customer satisfaction, and upholding values of integrity and sustainability. Her story is a testimony to the impact of women in shaping their communities.
Pretty encourages other aspiring entrepreneurs, especially women and youth, to take advantage of opportunities provided by government and development agencies.
“There will always be challenges, but never give up. Push forward until you get the opportunity you deserve,” she says.
This Women’s Month, Pretty is celebrated for her resilience, leadership, and contribution to local economic growth. Her inspiring journey is a reminder that when women are empowered, communities thrive.
