Lebowakgomo SAPS recover stolen property after suspect arrest

The police in Lebowakgomo have recovered stolen property following apprehension of a 27-year-old male suspect while walking next to a mall.

“On Tuesday 13 January, at about 10:30, a female victim went to the police station and reported theft committed at her residence in Lebowakgomo Unit B, resulting in numerous items stolen including laptops

 “Police commenced with the investigations and eventually received information about a suspicious male who was allegedly busy trying to illegally unlock the laptops and also attempting to sell the items next to a local mall at Lebowakgomo,” said Limpopo SAPS spokesperson Brigadier Hlulani Mashaba.

 Mashaba said the SAPS swiftly operationalised on the information and an immediate manhunt was activated by the police. While busy with the search operation, two suspicious male suspects were spotted walking along the R579 public road next to Mall @ Lebo while in possession of a white bag pack and walking towards a laptop repair store.

Police managed to intercept the duo but one suspect managed to run away while a 27-year-old male suspect was arrested on the spot. Stolen property valued at R60.000 were found upon searching the bag pack and comprising of a laptop charger, one silver Hp laptop and a black Hp laptop. The suspect failed to provide a satisfactory response about the items and was immediately placed under arrest on the spot.

Police investigations that might link the suspect with multiple cases committed in the past three weeks that included theft of laptops in the policing area are ongoing. The suspect will appear before Thabamoopo Magistrate’s Court soon facing a charge of possession of suspected stolen property. Police investigations are continuing.
