Limpopo MEC for Limpopo Department of Public Works, Roads, and Infrastructure (LDPWRI), Ernest Rachoene, has on Tuesday 30 September 2025, met with stakeholders from the Letolwane Traditional Council in Shakung Village, to discuss critical concerns regarding Roads D4176, D4177, D4178, and D4179 in the Fetakgomo-Tubatse Local Municipal (FTLM).
The meeting marked the third stakeholder engagement of the day for MEC Rachoene, reflecting the department’s commitment to tackling infrastructure challenges and ensuring responsive governance.
According to LDPWRI Spokesperson, Tendani Munyai, the Letolwane Traditional Council stakeholder engagements formed part of a broader departmental initiative aimed at improving road infrastructure and enhancing service delivery throughout Limpopo.
“Through direct consultations with community representatives and traditional leadership, the department seeks to prioritize community needs, ensure inclusive planning, and deliver sustainable infrastructure solutions,” he said.
In a separate address at the departmental strategic planning session, held recently at Forever Resort in Bela Bela, MEC Rachoene emphasized the critical role of infrastructure development in driving economic growth and improving service delivery across the province.
“We gather here at a critical moment. The demands on our department are growing. Communities expect roads that are safe and reliable, public buildings that are functional and well-maintained, and infrastructure programmes that create opportunities for economic participation,” he said.
MEC Rachoene also stressed the importance of ensuring full compliance with procurement processes to prevent corruption and maladministration within the department.
He said through direct consultations with community representatives and traditional leadership, the department seeks to prioritize community needs, ensure inclusive planning, and deliver sustainable infrastructure solutions.
MEC Rachoene urged departmental officials to remain focused and dedicated to achieving the objectives outlined in the strategic plan, emphasizing the need for strengthened teamwork, interdepartmental cooperation, and stakeholder engagement.
“We need increased transparency and accountability to restore and maintain public trust in government institutions,” he added.
Rachoene said the department’s efforts to improve road infrastructure are expected to have a positive impact on the province’s economy, which is largely dependent on agriculture, mining, and tourism.
