Maila and Maseko meet to discuss future developments in the FTLM

POLOKWANE

Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality (FTLM) remains committed to driving sports development and preserving the rich cultural heritage of the area. With this idea in mind, the FTLM’s mayor Cllr Eddie Maila, met with the Limpopo MEC for Sports, Arts and Culture, Jerry Maseko on August 13 in Polokwane to deliberate on developmental issues affecting both institutions.

During their presentations, both leaders expressed the need for stronger collaboration in sports, arts, and culture initiatives to be embedded within the municipality’s City Development Strategy.

Maila outlined the municipality’s current plans, which include the development of a stadium, the restoration of the Tjate Heritage Site as a cultural centre, the development of the Burgersfort Regional Library, and the enhancement of the Potlake Nature Reserve.

These legacy projects are expected to stimulate local economic growth and help address the triple challenges of unemployment, poverty, and inequality.

Maseko commended the municipality for taking the initiative to engage the department on these strategic matters.

He noted his department’s existing collaboration with the FTLM on cultural programmes and reaffirmed its commitment to advancing sports development and supporting the creative industry.
To ensure the effective implementation of these initiatives, a joint technical team comprising officials from Maseko’s department and the municipality will be established to develop detailed collaboration frameworks and plan future engagements.
