FTLM Mayor addresses slow pace of service delivery
BURGERSFORT
The Mayor of Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality (FTLM), Cllr Eddie Maila, has expressed concern over the slow pace of service delivery in the municipality, particularly in the grading and re-gravelling of rural roads.
On Monday 28 July 28 2025, the mayor met with officials attached to the Municipal Roads and Storm-water Unit, Fleet Management, and Mechanical Unit to address the issue.
The mayor’s concerns are centred around the impact of the slow pace of service delivery on the community. The municipality’s rural roads are in dire need of maintenance, and the breakdown of machinery is exacerbating the problem.
The mayor lamented the continuous breakdown of yellow machinery, which are critical to the provision of services to the community.
“It cannot be correct that the machinery is always experiencing breakdowns while there is a need for roads to be fixed to enable access and mobility,” said Maila.
The mayor has directed the Maintenance Unit to fix the yellow machines within an acceptable period so that they can assist communities with service delivery.
Maila called all officials to prioritize their work and ensure that the properties of the municipality are safeguarded and work effectively and efficiently.
Despite having challenges in other parts of the local municipality, the FTLM is making significant upgrades to its road infrastructure network with ambitious projects to improve the quality of roads, enhancing safety and accessibility for the community.
