Mayor Bahula brings government closer to the people
JANE FURSE/GA-NKOANA – Communities in Sekhukhune will finally access services of the office of Sekhukhune District Municipality (SDM) Executive Mayor in their various localities.
This after Executive Mayor, Minah Bahula officially launched the project for the Executive Mayor Satellite Offices to be accessed across all the four local municipalities in the district last Thursday.
Bahula opened the first office at Kgaola Mafiri Building in Jane Furse within Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality that day.
Lemson Moropjane SDM spokesperson, said the initiative, also shaped during the district’s strategic planning session in February, aims to bring government services closer to communities, improving accessibility and prompt responsiveness to local needs.
Moropjane indicated that given the size and diversity of Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality, two satellite offices will be established, with one at Kgaola Mafiri for the Jane Furse cluster and another at Makgwabe Community Hall to serve the Masemola cluster.
“The two will be headed by Members of the Mayoral Committee, Mabatane Mathale and Leokana Kanana respectively,” explained Moropjane.
He added that the offices will function as political and high-level administrative support centres, strengthening intervention and collaboration in service delivery across the district.
Bahula pointed out, “The district’s work must be visible. We are committed to changing the narrative and ensuring our people experience real and tangible service delivery. In the interim, Extended Public Works Programme workers will be engaged to support and monitor activities at the new offices. Their role will be to serve as a vital link between the community and the executive mayor’s office, without disrupting the normal provision of municipal services.”
She thanked both Fetakgomo Tubatse and Makhuduthamaga municipality, led by Mayor Merah Mahlase, Council Speaker Judy Nkgadima, Mayor Eddie Maila and Council Speaker Vincent Shaba for the support and assistance.
The Ga-Nkoana Executive Mayor’s Satellite office, within Fetakgomo-Tubatse Local Municipality, was launched on 9 May.
As the satellite offices become operational, residents can expect enhanced support and more efficient service delivery.
