Maila conducts oversight visit at Dresden Access Road Project

DRESDEN

Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality’s mayor Cllr Eddie Maila accompanied by Executive Committee members (EXCO) visited the Dresden Access Road Project at Dresden, (Ward 24) to track progress of the road project. Maila and his team visited the site on February 25.

In his presentation, the consulting engineer of the project, indicated that the torrential rains experienced during December and January months have slowed down the pace, as the work had to be redone for the strong foundation of the road base.

Maila has encouraged the contractor to revise the programme of work to ensure that the road project is completed before the end of the 2024/2025 financial year.

“The people of Fetakgomo Tubatse and the residents of Dresden have been promised a road and that must be implemented without any delays. The municipality has made a commitment that no money will be returned to Treasury due to non-spending and the allocation for the Dresden access road will be used for its intended purpose, said Maila.

He said the Office of the Mayor will continue to intervene to ensure that the project is completed within the stipulated period and handed over to the community as promised.

The contractor has been urged to put more effort in ensuring that the project is completed without further delays. The Mayor has thanked the community of Dresden for their support towards the project and by giving contractors space to do their work without any disruptions.

“This spirit of cooperation must be displayed in all the projects that are in implemented in the municipality.”

Maila reiterated his call that the Office of the Mayor is always available to engage the community to clarify issues and to address challenges and concerns as raised.

The Mayor and the Executive Committee will continue to visit all municipal projects for monitoring and ensuring that projects are completed within the prescribed period.

The Dresden Access Road Project is expected to be completed by August 2025.
