Makhuduthamaga maps out plans to improve lives
JANE FURSE – Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality’s political and management wings engaged in a strategic planning session over three days from Wednesday until Friday last week to discuss ways of improving services for the masses.
The aim of the session was to re-evaluate and define a roadmap for a developmental institution that works for its people.
It further reviewed the institution’s objectives by refining action plans driven by six Key Performance Areas.
Focus was put on assessment of the existing mineral deposits in the municipal area, investment initiatives, enhancement of Small Micro and Medium Enterprises, and youth business funding models.
Thomas Mashabela. MLM spokesperson, said additionally, the meeting delved into the acceleration of basic services, enhanced own revenue generation, upgrading of municipal public facilities and improvement of the audit outcome to achieve a clean audit.
Mashabela highlighted that an acknowledgement was made of the significance of strategic alignment across all spheres of government and developmental planning in order to drive sustainable growth and improve community livelihoods.
Mayor Merah Mahlase said as the municipality moves forward, there is a need for them to carry out all of the strategic objectives and actions in the next financial year.
Mahlase remarked that Makhuduthamaga communities must feel the municipality’s service delivery efforts and social impact through various initiatives. “Let us rally behind a clean audit. It is attainable,” concluded Mahlase.
