Executive Mayor Bahula congratulate top Matric Achievers

The Executive Mayor of Sekhukhune District Municipality (SDM), Cllr Minah Bahula, has extended her heartfelt congratulations to the district’s Matric Class of 2024, celebrating their outstanding achievements.
The 2024 National Senior Certificate (NSC) results were announce at a prestigious event, held at The Ranch Hotel in Polokwane on Tuesday 14 January 2025.
Among the top achievers is Bontle Sedutla from Ngwanakwena Secondary School in Moganyaka, Tsimanyane Circuit, Ephraim Mogale Local Municipality (EPMLM), who excelled as the overall top candidate in Agricultural Sciences.
Bontle has set sights to pursue a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechatronics at Nelson Mandela Bay University.
Another top achiever from the district, Michael Tau from Groblersdal Academy in Elias Motsoaledi Local Municipality (EMLM), was announced as the top candidate in Mathematical Literacy. Michael is set to study Accounting Science at the University of Johannesburg.
Koketso Chego from Mphezulu Secondary in EMLM, is one of learners who performed outstandingly after scoring a perfect 300/300 in Business Studies and plans to pursue Law.
Similarly, Tlhologelo Makola from Malekutu Secondary in the Ngwaritsi Circuit Jane Furse, Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality (MLM), who also achieved 300/300 in Mathematics, aspires to study Electrical Engineering at either the University of Pretoria or Wits University.
The highlight of the event was the Special MEC’s Award presented to Miss Mabena Johanna, Principal of Kgothala Secondary School in Moutse East, Dennilton, EMLM, for the consistent improvement in her school’s overall performance.
Executive Mayor Bahula remarked: “You should remain determined and use this opportunity as a stepping stone to future achievements. The Sekhukhune District Municipality congratulates you and all role players from various circuits.” To those who did not pass, she encouraged resilience, “Your journey does not end here. Dust yourself off, stay focused, and try again.”
MEC for Education, Mavhungu Lerule- Ramakhanya commended Sekhukhune District as the most improved district for matric results, contributing to Limpopo Province achieving 85%, a 5% improvement from last year and placing sixth nationally.
