Death cheats Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality of another ward committee member
JANE FURSE – Mr. Motlagobe Solly Selahle (31), a ward committee member in Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality, has died.
Selahle was allegedly stabbed with a sharp object at the Jane Furse RDP on Sunday, 10 November. He was admitted to Polokwane Hospital after the incident and succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday, 4 December.
MLM council speaker’s office received the heartbreaking news of his death and expressed sympathy to the deceased’s family, friends, colleagues and relatives.
Thomas Mashabela, MLM spokesperson, said a delegation from the institution, led by Chair of Chairs, Thabitha Selala and Executive Committee member responsible for Budget and Treasury, Malebo Phala, alongside Ward Councillor, S.M Mothupi, paid a visit to the bereaved family to express condolences on behalf of council on 10 December.
Mashabela indicated that the municipality would work closely with the distraught family to provide comfort and support with regard to burial arrangements.
He informed that the funeral service in Selahle’s remembrance would be held on Saturday, 14 December at Ngwanamatlang Village. Selahle will be buried at Dithabaneng tša Moripane Cemetery the same day.
His passing follows hard on the heels of another blow to the office after the recent death of Selahle’s counterpart, Mohlomphegi Lawrence Manogo whose body was discovered by his family at his residence in Hoepakraans Village on Saturday, 23 November.
Manogo played a pivotal role in the community, fostering relations between the ward councillor, municipality and key stakeholders such as traditional authorities as well as community development workers. He was buried on Saturday, 30 November in Hoepakraans Village.
