Evasive and dangerous escapee eventually re-arrested
TSIMANYANE – The Provincial Commissioner of South African Police Service (SAPS) in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe, has commended the collaboration between Sekhukhune Task Team, Operation Vala Umgodi Multidisciplinary Team as well as private security for the re-arrest of one of the most evasive and highly dangerous fugitive.
The 32 year-old Lovemore Musoyi, a Zimbabwean most wanted criminal who has been on the run from since he escaped from a police van at Moutse Mall while being transported to Witbank Correctional facility in January 2023, was re-captured in Tsimanyane Village on Friday, 3 January.
The notorious Musoyi is facing a trail of more than 10 criminal cases ranging from murder, attempted murder, armed robberies, house robberies, business robberies, kidnapping, assaults, stock theft to possession of an unlicensed firearm.
He committed the crimes in policing areas of Elandskraal, Motetema, Dennilton and Rakgoadi. Police offered a R40 000 reward in July last year for information that could lead to his arrest.
Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, Limpopo Provincial Police spokesperson, pointed out that Musoyi’s luck eventually deserted him when the police, working together with private security, operationalised information and invaded his hideout place in the mountains within Rakgoadi policing area.
Ledwaba indicated that an unlicensed firearm was confiscated during the arrest of Musoyi. He is expected to appear before various Magistrate’s courts within Sekhukhune district in due course facing several cases including escaping from lawful custody.
