Magabe Park electricity project halted

MAGABE PARK
The Magabe Park electrification project outside Burgersfort has reportedly stalled and the contractor has vacated the site. This is despite the project having started in 2023.
Magabe Park is a village in the Ward 30 of Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality (FTLM) in Burgersfort. Back on July 11, 2023, FTLM mayor Eddie Maila introduced the contractor for electrification of the homes in the village.
“We were told the project was going to be completed within a year.
“Around March 2024, alleged criminals burnt poles earmarked for the project. “We were then told the project will be extended to September 2024,” said one of the community leaders.
She said they were shocked when the main contractor left the site with the project incomplete.
“The poles, wiring and transformers have been installed but there are no meter boxes in the homes,” added another resident.
This publication forwarded media inquiries to the FTLM’s communications team.

Part of the questions was, “when will the homes be electrified”? At the time of going to press, no responses have been received from FTLM. Sekhukhune Times will publish an update when the municipality respond.
