Setšong Tea Crafters host Heritage Summit to uplift local SMMEs

Setšong Tea Crafters in partnership with Ephraim Mogale Local Municipality (EPMLM), have hosted the Heritage Summit and Festival at Ga-Matlala Ramoshebo outside Marble Hall on Friday 27 and Saturday 28 September 2024.
The summit was aiming to empower local businesses within Sekhukhune, marking a significant celebration of rich cultural heritage, while shining a spotlight on the vital contributions of Small, Medium, and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs) in the community.
The heritage event drew a diverse crowd eager to engage with local traditions and support the municipality’s entrepreneurial spirit.
The attending SMMEs included Mokatani, Lanzi’s Biltong, Travel with Mvula, Pretty Travel and Tours, Phoroza Catering, Boeketlong Lodge, Make-Up by Shirzz, Lesolo Lodge, African Treasurers, Hellen Ref, Clifford Lodge, Mohlaletse Guest House, Point North Craft, BKT Guesthouse, Esibayeni Guest House, Hunadi Mamaprince, Lehumo Mabulane, Shirzz Madisha, Yoni Talk, Shocky Ntobeng, Mini Me Spa, Mpubane Multi Solution and Indigenous Delight.
The event also featured an array of activities, including cultural performances, art exhibitions, traditional attire, tourism destinations, bush camping experience and interactive tea bleeding experience workshops, all aimed at showcasing the talents and offerings of local SMMEs.
The attendees were able to explore unique handcrafted goods, enjoying traditional cuisine and learn more about the stories behind these vibrant businesses.
Percy Moagi, EPMLM Spokesperson, said the local municipality is thrilled with the turnout and the enthusiasm shown by the communities.
“The success of these event reinforces the importance of fostering local entrepreneurship and preserving cultural heritage as interconnected goals. We extend our gratitude to all participants including Sekhukhune Development Agency (SDA), Sekhukhune District Tourism Association (SDTA), Limpopo Tourism Agency (LTA) and the Limpopo Department of Economic Development and Tourism (LEDET),” he said.
Moagi said the municipality is encouraging those who wants to participate in showcasing their business in these kind of events to come and register their names in the Local Economic Development (LED) office.
Setšong Tea Crafters CEO, Retang Phaahla, has extended her heartfelt gratitude to those who worked hard with dedication in organizing the event.
