Annual Dumi De Mentor multi-sporting code tournament held
Manganeng – The Second Annual Dumi De Mentor Winter multi-sporting code tournament were held at Madrid Sports Grounds in Manganeng Village on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 July.
Eight Under-21 football teams and six netball clubs from Manganeng Village and surrounding places battled it out for the first prizes of the first prize in each sporting code.
In the football matches played on Saturday, Mmotong FC defeated No Mistake FC 1-0 and the second game saw Batlokwa FC eliminating Roma FC 4-1 on penalties after the teams played a 1-1 draw in 90 minutes.
The third match of the day saw Future FC emerging as winners after defeating Ngwaabe FC 4-0 on penalty shootout, following a 0-0 draw.
In the fourth match, De Blues FC advanced to the semi-finals with a 1-0 win against Madrid FC.
During the first semi-finals that played on Sunday, Mmotong FC defeated De Blues FC 1-0 and advanced to the final of the tournament.
The second semis saw Future FC defeating Batlokwa FC 4-2 on penalties after a 0-0 stalement in 90 minutes.
Future FC were crowned champions of the tournament winning the final 4-3 on penalties against Mmotong FC.
Future FC walked away with a trophy, gold medals, Pmash Hamper and R4000-00 cash prize. The runners-up, Mmotong FC, received silver medals, Pmash Hamper and R2000-00 in cash.
Election Mawela from Mmotong FC scooped multiple awards that included the leading goal scorer of the tournament, youngest player of the tournament. Player of the tournament award went to Thabang from Future FC. Calvin from Mmotong FC became goalkeeper of the tournament and Mike Nare from Future FC was awarded best coach of the tournament.
In the netball sporting code, Geu NC was defeated by MarangRang NC 6-5, while in the second game, Inner City NC won by 16-12 facing Stars39 NC. Madrid NC won the next game 17-10 when defeating Young Stars NC.
The following game saw JF Heart Breakers NC defeating Geu NC 13-7. In the semi finals Madrid NC won 8-5 over Inner City NC. JF Heart Breakers NC trashed MarangRang NC 20- 1 to advance to the final.
Heart Breakers NC were crowned champions of the tournament after winning by 10-4 against Madrid NC. They walked away with a trophy, gold medals, Pmash Hamper and R1200-00 cash prize. The runners-up, Madrid NC, were awarded silver medals, Pmash Hamper and R600-00 in cash.
Coach of the tournament award went to Vembie Mohlala from JF Heart Breakers NC, Defender of the tournament was Lebo from Inner City NC, youngest player of tournament award went to Kgothatso Mabelane from Madrid NC and Best attacking player of the tournament was awarded to Charity from JF Heart Breakers NC. Best shooter of the tournament was Kgothatso Mabelane from Madrid NC.
