Dagga worth over R200 000 recovered by SAPS

The SAPS stop and search activities led to the arrest of three suspects aged between 25 and 37, who were found in possession of dagga, during Operation Vuthu-Hawe initiated in Burgersfort and neighbouring communities.
The operation was activated from July 4, until July 5. It’s the second time in less than three months the Burgersfort SAPS recovered a big batch of compressed marijuana. On April 12, 711kg of dagga, worth over R2 million was recovered by the SAPS during the Rural Safety SAPS Operation.
“According to information, the members on operation spotted a suspicious blue Toyota Corolla, with three occupants, including the driver, which they stopped and searched . Police found four compressed marking tape wrapped bags containing dagga at an estimated street value of around R200 000. The three suspects were immediately arrested for possession of dagga, ”said Limpopo SAPS spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba.
During the same operation, an illegal immigrant was also arrested by the team. The operation saw police visit nearby farms, shopping complexes and spaza shops to combat crime.
Limpopo SAPS commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has welcomed the arrests. She further commended members for always being alert and committed in their duties. The suspects will soon appear before the Burgersfort Magistrate’s Court.
