Suspects linked to Ga-Matlala CIT appeared in court

Three accused, Joseph Morake (57), Ntadi Nemadzivhanani (24) and Fana Muphete Mmako (54), have on Monday 20 May, appeared in the Mdutjana Magistrate’s Court in Siyabuswa on a Cash-In-Transit (CIT) heist committed in Ga-Matlala Ramoshebo in Moutse West outside Marble Hall.

According to Warrant Officer Lethunya Mmuroa, Hawks Spokesperson in Limpopo, said the suspects were arrested on Friday 17 May after the police received information about their whereabouts following a cash-in-transit heist that occurred at Ga-Matlala Ramoshebo Village on Wednesday 15 May 2024.

“A Multi-disciplinary Operation was conducted between the Polokwane DPCI, Hawks SOCI, Sekhukhune District Task Team, Limpopo Provincial Tactical Response Team (TRT), Limpopo Provincial Crime Intelligence (CI), Mpumalanga Local Criminal Record Centre (LCRC), Mpumalanga Bomb Explosive Unit, and the G4S Cash Solution Company was conducted in which the accused were traced and arrested in different areas of Limpopo and Mpumalanga Provinces,” he said.

Mmuroa added that during the arrests, the police seized ten electrical commercial detonator, explosives trip cord, an R1 riffle, 31 rounds of R1 rifle, a magazine, R4 riffle with two magazines, two AK47 rifles with two magazines, suspected stolen Izusu bakkie and VW Golf GTI vehicles.

“The accused appeared in court on separate charges. One of the suspects, Moroke, was granted a R15 000-00 bail for possession of presumed stole motor vehicles and ammunition. Nemadzivhanani granted a R2000-00 bail. The case has been remanded to 26 June 2024. Mmako was charged with unlawful possession unlicensed firearms, ammunition and explosives. His matter was remanded to 22 May 2024 for formal bail application,” explained Mmuroa.

He said the Hawks in the province are busy with the follow up investigation and more arrests are imminent.

Provincial Head of the Hawks in Limpopo, Major General Adv Gopz Govender, applauded the sterling work of the multi-disciplinary team. He furthered warns the outstanding suspects to hand themselves to the police before the Hawks pounce on them.
