Communities given blankets

DIPHAGANE – Scores of community members that included senior citizens in Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality’s Ward 24 benefited from Sekhukhune District Municipality (SDM)’s blanket drive programme led by Executive Mayor Minah Bahula on Friday, 19 April at Diphagane Village.

According to SDM, the primary aim of the blanket drive programme is to extend warmth and comfort to the less fortunate and the vulnerable families during the harsh winter months.

The municipality stated that the programme, which is a special initiative from Executive Mayor Bahula’s office, showcases government’s commitment in supporting those in need within communities.

Bahula said as they witness the collective impact of such initiatives, it becomes evident that their strength lies in their ability to uplift and support one another, especially during challenging times.

She further emphasized on the significance of extending a helping hand to those who may not have the means to acquire such essential items.

Bahula expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the community members, reaffirming government’s shared responsibility to care for each other.

The executive mayor further highlighted the invaluable contributions of elderly citizens, stressing the importance of acknowledging their roles within the society.

She indicated that the elderly’s wisdom, experience and resilience serve as pillars upon which communities thrive. She said it is imperative that people honour and respect the contributions of senior citizens.
