Efforts made to turn Fetakgomo-Tubatse Industrial Park into fully fledged SEZ
GROBLERSDAL – Limpopo Economic Development, Environment and Tourism MEC, Rodgers Monama has stressed on the importance of initiatives such as the Fetakgomo-Tubatse Industrial Park (FTIP) in their pursuit to foster economic growth and job creation in Sekhukhune district.
MEC Monama reiterated the provincial government’s commitment to collaborate closely with local authorities and stakeholders to ensure the successful realization of those projects.
Monama remarked during the meeting with Sekhukhune District Municipality Executive Mayor, Minah Bahula in the crucial engagement in which he updated the executive mayor on the significant advancements made in the economic landscape of the district.
The meeting, held at the district municipality’s headquarters in Groblersdal on Thursday 18 April, between the municipality and the department, aimed to provide an update on the progress regarding the application of a license for the FTIP to be designated as a fully fledged Special Economic Zone (SEZ).
Additionally, the engagement centered on the implementation of bulk infrastructure and engineering design projects in the district, aimed at bolstering economic infrastructure in the area.
Key stakeholders including the interim Chief Executive Officer of FTIP, Solly Kgopong, Manager for Planning and Economic Development in Sekhukhune, Cleopas Nchabeleng were among those who attended the meeting.
Executive Mayor Bahula expressed her gratitude for the comprehensive briefing and reaffirmed the municipality’s dedication to support initiatives that enhance the socio-economic well-being of its residents.
Bahula acknowledged efforts by MEC Monama, his collective and key stakeholders in their roles that drive the economic growth of the district.
She described the efforts as commendable and pushing the municipality further to realize the full potential of initiatives that aim to foster job creation, economic prosperity and improve the quality of life for the communities of Sekhukhune district.
