Mabena bags prestigious literary award
Dennilton – Dennilton born author, Vusi Mabena, has managed to scoop yet another at the 2023 “The Book Behind Awards”.
The multi-award winning self-published author, actor, motivational speaker and public figure was crowned the Best Male Author at the prestigious event that took place at The Pietermaritzburg City Hall in Kwa-Zulu Natal recently.
The media personality said he is thrilled to manage to scoop the award, which he has been campaigning for since early this year.
“It was my third nomination that required public votes, so I had a lot of anxiety throughout but my faith kept me calm. I have a very powerful team behind me and they always know the assignment. I campaigned for months on through radio stations, newspapers, churches and on social media platforms. I had activations across South Africa especially in three provinces,” said Mabena.
He said the Book Behind Awards is the biggest nomination he has ever received in his career and winning it will is one of his greatest achievements since he started his writing career 15 years ago.
“As Dr Angiyukweswela Madondo was about to present the winner of our category, I bowed my head and did a little prayer, I could not hear my name being called the first time, they had to call it the second time, I could not believe it but I had faith. I screamed, it made me so happy, I still am happy and I am so glad and appreciative of the recognition,” he said.
Mabena, who described himself as “Global champion multi-award winning self-published author King Of Philosophy in writing inspirational books”, said he is currently busy working on his “double-books” that will be release next year early.
Mabena said he is delighted that he still gets nominations from across Africa which he never visualized happening so soon.
“I am happy to say I am so proud of my achievements so far. I come from rural area in Dennilton and I never underestimated my small humble beginnings that made me who I am today. I encourage everyone, particularly young people, to not look down at the place they come from and focus on making their dreams a reality,” he said.
He said the awards winning books are still available on him and calling to people to please continue showing love by supporting him.
Mabena penned six books comprises mostly in poetry and won five awards since he started his professional writing career.
