The people of Ga-Mphahlele, Seleteng, Sedimothole are crying for service delivery. According to one of the resident Erasmus Mphahlele, It has been over at least 5 years without water and electricity. The community has written a letter of service demand to Lepelle Nkumpi Municipality explaining problems the community encounter on a daily basis due to lack of service delivery.
“I have been staying in this village since 2015 and nothing has been done about the issue. We were then asked to write a list of problems within the community and we gladly did but it is unfortunate that we are used to empty promises. We buy water and candles which make it difficult for our kids to study for school; can they excel with dry throats? Who still study with a candle light in our country?” he said.
But Councilor Maite Takalo says she is aware of the problems and the reason behind them is that of, Sedimothole is a newly developing village, it has many new stands. As the committee they are doing what they can to help the community. She said in 2015 they installed 150 units to those few residents of Sedimothole.
“We would appreciate our people to believe in us, we will help them but it won’t be in a day. These things take time because we have to draft down a budget and make paperwork. We try by all means to update them about the process. In 2019 we had a meeting with the Executive of technical Imbizo along with some of the community members at Lenting to discuss the budget. Things are going to fall into place soon; we wish they could be patient with the process. I will be attending a meeting with municipality to discuss matters of this kind soon and we will give them an update after” Takalo said.
