WTM London, which is seen as the ultimate destination for travel and tourism, is the leading global event for the travel industry followed by International Tourism Borse (ITB) in Berlin and Africa’s Travel Indaba in South Africa being third,” he said.
Tautsoala added that the WTM provides a unique opportunity for the whole global travel trade to meet, network, negotiate and conduct business under one roof.
“All sectors of the travel industry are represented including tourist boards, airlines, cruise, hotels, luxury travel, responsible tourism and travel technology London facilitates business with its unique networking events, including the ever-popular Buyers’ Speed Networking sessions,” he explained.
Tautsoala informed that WTM London is one of the first major physical international travel events taking place this year, attracting huge global attention in what will be a pivotal time for the travel industry.
“WTM London proactively targets and attracts the highest quality new and existing buyers keen to gain market intelligence, explore new ideas and meet with new and existing suppliers. Reconnect, rebuild, and Innovate are the buzz words for this year’s edition of the show,” he said.
LTA CEO, Moses Ngobeni, said he is grateful that the tourism sector is back with international events returning to boost travel.
“We are thrilled that this number one travel and tourism show is back, and our hope is that it will inspire travel to our country but most importantly our province. The objectives for us to participate in this big show are, to position Limpopo Province as the most preferred eco-tourism destination to create awareness and drive demand for international tourism travel into the province and to strengthen the existing relationship with the UK market,” he said.
Ngobeni said they are also confident that the ripple effects of their participation at this show will be realized later when more international tourists will be coming our shores.
“This will no doubt make a dent on the triple challenges of unemployment, poverty and inequality that our country continues to face,” he said.
Ngobeni made a clarion call to the people of Limpopo to continue traversing their province of Limpopo as it has so much on offer.
“Limpopo’s participation at WTM London is to showcase the province’s tourism offerings to international trade and to position our province as a leading tourism destination in Southern Africa. Limpopo has recently been confirmed Statistics South Africa as one of the top three most preferred destinations by South Africans and we urge all to visit our province this summer as there is so much more to enjoy in Limpopo,” he said.
