Mayor Bahula reaches out to rural communities
MASEHLANENG/GA-PHAAHLA – Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality (MLM) Mayor, Minah Bahula embarked on municipal and sector department’s Batho Pele service delivery outreach program in the local municipality’s ward 24, Masehlaneng and Ga-Phaahla villages on Thursday, 20 October 2022.
Providing background to the outreach program, Lempson Moropyane, MLM Communications Manager, indicated that putting people first, as one of the principles enshrined in the Makhuduthamaga service charter, encouraged that the local municipality mobilized sector departments with the aim to provide access to information and solutions to communities far away from government service’s centers.
During the service delivery enhancement initiative, Mayor Bahula addressed the Masehlaneng community and surrounding areas on service delivery challenges and provided an update on Integrated Development Programme’s (IDP) progress and future plans for the area as well as for the entire municipality.
Bahula said that Masehlaneng Village was chosen as the preferred venue for this year’s Batho Pele service delivery outreach program as a result of the community’s challenge of having to travel long distance to access government offices located in Jane Furse.
As part of the 2022 service delivery outreach, Bahula handed over 74 tables and 300 chairs to 10 pre-schools in Ward 24.
Moropyane added that was one of the program initiatives to assist social development department in giving support to Early Childhood Development (ECD) education centers.
“Departments that offered services’ information included amongst others, Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure, Agriculture and Rural Development, Social Development, Provincial Treasury, Education, Health, GCIS amongst others,” concluded Moropyane.
