EFF handover memorandum of demands to FTLM

BURGERSFORT

More than 200 Sekhukhune EFF members protested for better services at the Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality (FTLM)’s offices on Friday morning.

They protested against water shortages, failed electrical projects, unfinished road projects and other service delivery challenges.

” We demand the planned mass evictions around Burgersfort Town, Appiesdoring must be stopped with immediate effect. We want the municipality to start with the plans to formalise the Burgersfort Ext 10 informal settlement in Ward 18 within the 2022/2023 financial year,” said Walter Molapo Cllr at FTLM.

Molapo said the mayor must account on the R13 million spent on the Ga Motodi Sport Complex. He said the stadium was not completed .
“The FTLM must establish rehabilitation centre to help nyaope stricken youth of Burgersfort Ext 10.”
He added that the leadership of the FTLM should engage with SAPS to reopen the mobile satellite Police station in Longtill to serve the people of Ngwaabe, Longtill and Steelpoort.
” We demand that the municipality stop procuring the so called anti-virus software for councilors which cost R5 Million. ”
The protesters alleged the FTLM had a tendency of ignoring their memorandum and grievances.
“We are giving your 7 days to respond to our grievances. If we don’t hear from you within these days . We are going to shut down the gates of the municipality offices,” threatened EFF’s Edward Phasha .

Receiving the memorandum was FTLM’s MM Mabelane, he confirmed to the protesters that he will deliver the memorandum to the relevant people.
