Premier Mathabatha monitors reopening of schools
MAMONE – Limpopo Premier Chupu Mathabatha led his Members of the Executive Council (MECs) in the 2022 Back-to-School campaign during the resumption of the academic year on Wednesday 12 January.
The annual provincial programme was aimed at monitoring the readiness at all schools as they reopened for the new academic calendar.
The Back-to-School programme amongst others focuses on management of learner admissions; registration and attendance, learning and teaching support material, facilities and infrastructure and COVID-19 readiness and compliance.
Premier Mathabatha, MEC for Education, Polly Boshielo and Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality Mayor, Minah Bahula embarked on the campaign in Mamone Village on Wednesday 12 January to monitor the readiness and reopening of Ngwanatshwane Secondary School which attained 98 percent pass rate in the last NSC examinations result.
The Premier and the team proceeded to Kgaladi Primary School also in the area to assess the situation there.
Mathabatha said that indeed the schools were ready, they have all the goods, they have stationery and they have registered all the learners. They did not have the problems, the kind of problems experienced in other areas.
“We don’t have long queues of parents who want to register their children for admission, despite the fact that this school is high performing school. Under normal circumstances in high performing schools you would have long queues of parents wanting to register their children. Parents flock to high performing schools irrespective of whether they have schools in their localities,” said Mathabatha.
