Crash claims for lives

MOTETI – Four men were killed in a head-on collision between a light delivery vehicle and a sedan on the R573 Road between Kwaggafontein and Moteti outside Marble Hall on 29 November.

The crash occurred just before 18:30 on the day and the deceased were certified dead on the scene of the accident.

The light deliver vehicle caught fire upon the impact but the drive, who was only the occupant, was ejected out of the vehicles before it caught fire.

The four deceased were included both the drivers and two passengers who were occupants in the sedan vehicle.

Traffic officers redirected traffic as the road was closed as various emergency personnel were working the scene. The cause of the crash is still unknown but the probe has already commenced.

Mpumalanga MEC for Community Safety, Security and Liaison, Vusi Shongwe has urged motorists to be more cautious on the roads, especially after sunset when visibility is reduced.

Shogwe called upon motorists to exercise due diligence and also obey the rules. “They need to also adjust their driving prevailing conditions on the road,” concluded Shongwe.
