Maile sworn as FTLM’s new mayor

ANC councilor Eddie Edwin Maile has been elected as the mayor of Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality (FTLM). Maile was sworn on 22 November at the Moses Mabotha Hall at Ga Nkwana. He was elected unopposed for the mayoral position.

 

The FTLM held its inaugural council meeting to swear in new councilors and to elect a new mayor and speaker at the hall.

 

The municipal manager, Walter Phala had led the proceedings and programmes till the election of the new speaker, Cllr Reneilwe Pholoane. The chief whip at the FTLM council is Vincent Shoba while the MPAC chairperson is Lerato Mojalefa.

 

Immediately after being inaugurated, Maile announced roles for the councilors who serve in the executive committee. He also pledged that they will strive to ensure services are brought to the people.

 

“During election campaigns, we have visited and interacted with the communities who raised many challenges they are confronted with on their day to day lives. These include lack of water, poor roads, and provision of electricity, housing and other socio economic challenges. “We also wish to increase the pace in which services are provided. We must prioritize socio-economic challenges that we are faced with daily in our communities, poverty unemployment, and inequality,” said the new mayor.

Magistrate Kenneth Mgiba, made each new councilor vow to uphold the law. A total of 77 councilors were sworn on the day. Nine political parties are represented in the FTLM council.
