Independent candidate determined to win EMLM ward 9

DENNILTON – A community leader in Dennilton, Christopher Malope, says ethical leadership is needed to turn things around and deliver quality services to residents of Moutse.

Malope will be contesting the upcoming November 1 local government elections as an independent candidate in Elias Motsoaledi Local Municipality’s ward 9.

The aspirant Malope promises the residents of Moutse clean governance with quality services they are entitled to as South Africans.

“I have positioned myself to introduce professionalism to fight cadre deployment and nepotism that benefit individuals and cause a backlog in the delivery of services for the masses. A clean government is needed and this is what I am intending to achieve,” said Malope.

Malope said he stepped out of the shadow of the ANC after he realized that after 27 years of democracy, people’s lives have not changed in Moutse.

“Yes I was supporting the ruling party all along but not anymore. I am a community leader and against the organization which takes decisions that do not benefit he majority but a selected few. Community involvement is essential to tackle service delivery issues and needed to address residents’ challenges,” said Malope.

He added that services such as water and housing were not provided by government the people voted for into power.

“The provision of water should be prioritized but as you can see, the infrastructure is down and local and district municipalities cannot keep up to their promises. To tackle the water crisis, there needs to be a short term solution to proper provisioning of water services. There needs to be drilling of boreholes not more than 500 metres apart. Underprivileged residents should get RDP houses. Currently, it seems those close to senior officials get the houses,” said Malope.

He said that a political shift and an alternative to the falling government was needed for change as people could not just keep voting without improvements in their lives.
