Maila intends to improve acceleration of services and local economy
FETAKGOMO-TUBATSE
To keep residents updated on services, Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality’s mayor Eddie Maila participated in a media networking session with local print, online and broadcasting media houses on Monday at Blydepoort.
This was after the second Exco Lekgotla, in which directorates presented their reports to council.
Maila applauded FTLM administration for spending 68% of the Municipal Infrastructure grant (MIG) at the end of December 2022.
“This is proof that FTLM intends to bring services to the people. We want to see our people accessing services. In fact, our vision is to transform Burgersfort into one of the cities in Mzansi and to see local economy flourish.”
Maila also took this as an opportunity to update locals on planned services, and some of the projects the municipality orchestrated in the past years.
On operation Mabone initiative, which was earmarked to electrify thousands of homes in Tubatse, Maila said about 90% of villages that were on the project are now electrified.
“If am not mistaken, its only two villages that do not have power, and were in the operation, in due course we will ensure they receive electricity.”
He admitted locals have experienced challenges with water in the FTLM, and the mayor has divulged his plans to have the FTLM reinstated as the water provider to local communities. He highlighted that this will assist in remedying the water backlog.
Maila congratulated the matric class of 2022; he indicated that the FTLM will once again be offering bursaries and scholarships to the needy and academically deserving students. He urged the local youth to focus on their studies and to improve local economy.
He indicated that the FTLM was in the process to assist in training more than 60 local artisans in various fields.
Maila concluded by urging media houses to report news truthfully, accurately and fairly, and to continue informing the public about developments at the FTLM.
