A man implores people to comply with level 4 regulations

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Barwa Youth Development (BYD) and executive of Thabampshe Fitness Club (TFC), Rodgers Nchabeleng has urged ordinary citizens to not defy alert level 4 lockdown restrictions.

Nchabeleng’s comment comes after the Economic Freedom Fighter’s (EFF) instructed its supporters to defy alert level 4 lockdown restrictions until the majority of people are vaccinated.

Rodgers Nchabeleng said he does not support the call of the EFF to defy level 4 regulations because the president has consulted the NCCC, cabinet and the health experts before taking the decision.

He said it has been scientifically proven that the transmission of the virus is mainly through super spreader events and movement of people.

“By assessment, the transmission rate has now reached an exponential rate, which implies that it is growing faster than experienced before. We have about 58 million citizens now, which make it difficult financially for the country to vaccinate us at once given that we are importing the doses, so it has financial implications,” said Nchabeleng.

He reiterated that the country’s vaccination roll out has been effective.

“We have already dealt with health care workers and this weekend it’s a mop up for teachers and support staff. Meanwhile there is progress on 60 plus people and today already roll out for 50 plus people has started,” he said.

Nchabeleng said by the end of 14 days declared, we would’ve steps towards vaccination roll out, which will be a relief to the country’s hospital flock and reduce transmission by almost half.
