The Limpopo Premier Chupu Stanley Mathabatha launched the COVID-19 vaccination self-registration for citizen aged 60 years old and above through the Electronic Vaccination Data System (EVDS) self-enrolment platform.
The event was held at Tooseng Clinic on Wednesday. Mathabatha was accompanied by the Limpopo MEC for health Dr Phophi Ramathuba during the launch.
The self-registration process marks the beginning of phase 2 of the rollout program of the COVID-19 vaccination as outlined by the President.
This self-registration will enable registered people to be allocated an appointment date when vaccination commences.
Premier himself was the first to self-register, followed by 12 elderly people in the village.
“The registration process will require all of us to work together to ensure the success of the COVID-19 vaccination. We therefore call upon young people and those with internet access to assist our senior citizens during this process,” said Mathabatha.
He said the self-registration campaign will touch all corners of the province, with home based carers ensuring that all elderly are assisted with registration.
He added, “So far, the vaccination of the 44 000 health care workers, phase 1, is continuing seamlessly.”
After the launch, the Premier accompanied by Ramathuba and health officials also visited some households of those who are willing to register and assist them with registration.
