Limpopo SAPS launch manhunt for Uncle Solly’s abductors

Owner of several car dealerships in Burgersfort and Lydenburg, Solly “Uncle Solly” Tayob (60) was abducted at one of his dealerships, next to his filling station on June 2 in Burgersfort.

The abduction has resulted in Limpopo SAPS commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe activating a manhunt for the perpetrators. It is reported that the businessman was standing outside his filling station when the incident occurred at about 19:30.

“According to the information available at this stage a taxi driver was confronted and pointed with a firearm by unknown male suspect who demanded car keys while five unknown male suspects accosted the business man and subsequently forced him into a black VW Golf 7 GTI, with unknown registrations and drove away with him, followed by a white Mercedes Benz registration No: 786 AGM L,” revealed Limpopo SAPS spokesman Colonel Malesela Ledwaba.

In another incident unknown male suspects who pretended to be members of Burgersfort SAPS went to a rental house and hijacked a black Mercedes Benz from a tenant at gunpoint.
“Police were notified of these incidents. The police reported that the earliest stage of the investigations came up with a recovery of hijacked silver Mercedes Benz abandoned around Bothashoek Village and a rifle LM 5 with 25 live ammunitions dropped at the bushes, “added Ledwaba.
He said a team comprising members of the Organised Crime Investigation Unit together with the Burgersfort SAPS Detectives as well as members of the Crime Intelligence Unit are hard on the heels of the suspects and are also investigating cases of kidnapping, pointing of firearm and car hijacking as well as impersonating a police officer.
