FTLM mayor officially handover Motaganeng Bridge

GA MANOKE
Gone are the days when Manoke residents will attempt to cross flooded rivers due to lack of access bridges.

The community led by the Banareng Tribal Authority representatives and Kgoshi Manoke were the recipients of the Motaganeng Access Bridge and a 1.5 kilometre road on Monday October 3.
The road links Dresden to Manoke. It also connects to the Old Penge Road (D2537).
Fetakgomo Tubatse Local Municipality’s mayor Eddie Maila officially handed the R19 million access bridge to more than 200 delighted community members.

Handing over the completed project, Maila thanked the community of Manoke for their support during the building of the bridge.

“We wish to thank the community of Ga Manoke and the Banareng Tribal Authority (Moshate) for supporting this project. Today, we are glad to be handing over a successfully completed project. There were no issues during the erection of the bridge and the access road. We also thank the contractor for an excellent job”

He urged the Moshate and local communities to take care of the new road. “This is your project. As the FTLM we will still be responsible in maintaining this road.

“When having service delivery issues,  stop damaging and burning this road. Engage with local councillors when you need services and avoid destruction of properties.”

He added, “We have indicated in the past that due to the geographical terrain of our municipality, our focus was on the construction of the access bridges to connect villages to one another.”

Maila said the FTLM will work hard to ensure services are brought to the people.

“We have challenges with water in our municipality; we will engage relevant authorities on how we can remedy such challenges.”

The   community was satisfied with the bridge. “We are relieved that FTLM has finally heeded our pleas for a bridge. The new bridge will make it easier for everyone to access schools and other facilities,” said one community leader

Another access bridge expected to be completed in the upcoming months is the Mokobola Access Bridge. The bridge is reported to be 70% complete.
