“New road may be a danger threat in the future” says ACDP
MAKHUDUTHAMAGA
Chairperson of the African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP) in Sekhukhune region Patrick Masha said his party is concerned over the upgrade of the road joining Jane Furse and Mamone.
Masha said ACDP is calling on Makhuduthamaga Local Municipality (MLM) to do “a proper investigation and install a pipe that water will be able to flow through”.
“It came to our attention that the road from Jane Furse leading to Mamone is next to a river. On that river, a lot of people perform rituals there. Due to the revamp, water has been blocked by sand and doesn’t flow through in the river,” said Masha.
“The Municipality must also note that the river was used for ritual performance and the fact that this might cause an overflow onto the road in cases of heavy rain,” he said.
He however said the party applauds the MLM for doing a great work by revamping and the repairing the road.
But he maintains that they need to consider the safety of road users and respecting the fact that people perform rituals there.
