The ANC in Limpopo support Ramaphosa for second term
LIMPOPO
African National Congress (ANC) in Limpopo has officially announced that it will support Cyril Ramaphosa for the second term as President.
This comes after the party held its ordinary Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) meeting, virtually on Monday, September 5th.
The party said it will also support Paul Mashatile for the position of deputy president and Stan Mathabatha who is currently provincial chairperson to become national chairperson.
The ANC is expected to hold its elective conference in December to elect new leadership.
Mathabatha was re-elected for the third term as party chairperson in the province with rumors that he wanted the position of national bearers.
According to the party spokesperson Machaka Jimmy the PEC supports Ramaphosa because it has the view that he is a best candidate to lead the renewal program.
Machaka said the PEC also resolved that there should be ‘consequence management’ on ANC Deployees, whose institutions return ‘unspent funds’ to the Provincial fiscus
“The PEC appreciated the continuous work done by the organization, of responding to challenges faced by our people, particularly with regards to water and roads, by availing deployees of the ANC in various levels of government, to account for their work,” said Machaka.
“The PEC reiterated the need for the comrades deployed in government to remain focused and double their efforts in delivering basic services to our people, to that effect the ANC PEC will be assessing and monitoring the work of its deployees across the Province from time to time,” he said.
Machaka said the PEC has further noted that some Municipalities, Departments and SoE’s in the Province, continue to return allocated monies to the Provincial Treasury because of their inability to spend those funds, – despite the glaring service delivery backlogs.
